We work alongside pastoralist communities to understand their realities, elevate their voices, and co-create solutions that reflect their needs and aspirations. By blending participatory research, dialogue, and systems analysis, we turn lived experience into evidence and evidence into action — strengthening governance, resilience, and inclusion across the Horn of Africa.
Community-Driven Inquiry
We train and partner with local researchers, elders, and youth to lead data collection and interpretation. This ensures that what we learn reflects pastoralist languages, culture, and lived experience.
Dialogue & Co-Creation
Through barazas, kraal meetings, and cross-border dialogues, we create spaces where communities, leaders, and institutions can think together, solve problems, and shape shared solutions.
Systems Analysis
We map the relationships between government, donors, markets, and community actors. This helps expose gaps, reduce duplication, and strengthen coordination across the development system.
Evidence-Based Advocacy
Our research outputs — from policy briefs and working papers to visual stories and data dashboards — turn community experiences into actionable evidence for decision-makers.
Cross-Border Collaboration
We work with partners such as FoLT (Kenya), IDS (UK), Tufts University, GIZ, and others to link grassroots knowledge with regional policy frameworks, including the IGAD Transhumance Protocol and the AU Pastoral Policy Framework.
How we are changing the story
From amplifying local voices to shaping national policy, our work bridges communities, knowledge, and governance across the Horn of Africa — proving that lasting change begins from within
